[Word] Word 7 - Styles problem

I was wondering if anyone has a solution for this problem. I am setting up 
templates and Ed has been helping me with the XML programming side of things 
which I do not know at all. However, when he sends me a template back all 
the styles of Word, like Emphasis, Subtle Emphasis, Intense Emphasis, etc 
reappear inside my Styles List and Quick Styles Gallery. I have to remove 
them from the the QAT and then hide them again in my Manage Style menu. I 
have tried saving my styles in a Styles Set for each template and bringing 
that in but this doesn't remove those default styles. My normal.dotm does 
not have those styles in that template either so that isn't the problem. 
Does anyone know if there is a place somewhere where you can switch off 
those styles permanently.
