I have no restrictions on commenting I am a non restricted Beta use - I'm
one of many public fools who is FREE to say what they think.
64x is the way to go if the other software vendors could manage it that
would be good.
Let's face it 2007 was a go between to 2010 and up as if you install 2010
you don't get to keep 2007 - just 2003 and previous I assume.
2010 - is good - heaps of work has been done in Access has been done - now
programs have BACKSTAGE view instead of Pizza Button
2010 - Word is word - smartart graphics, background removal tool for images.
The high end many users working same document is only Server stuff and
Collaboration so don't get over excited.
2010 - Outlook - now has proper ribbon interface
2010 - Excel - has resolved some issues I believe
I like it - love a challenge.

WP5 DOS to Word for Win 6. Gee you were lucky. You missed doing the
lateral from WP to Word for DOS 5 and 5.5, not to mention the joys of
WinWord and Word for Windows 2. I just tripped over a doc I have with a
history of Word. I was surprised to notice that up to Win Word 2 it was
designed for 640x480 resolution.
Wasn't it a culture shock going from WP to Word.
I too expect to keep 2003 as my main version for the foreseeable future.
The only reason I bought 2007 was it was on a legitimate deep discount last
year, $20 per licensee in a 3 pack, how could I refuse. I had been using
their 2007 free trial before that.
It's too bad that Janine (who likes the Ribbon) isn't free to comment on
2010, I've see so little about it. I imagine there is a NDA gag involved in
testing.

Hi David:
I used to consider myself to be somewhat of an expert in Word, finding every
nuance that I could & finding ways to simplify projects. After all, that's
what computers & their applications are supposed to be for. But since every
new version seems to be aimed more at attracting new users than keeping
power users happy, I've gotten somewhat disillusioned. I guess as I get
older, I have less patience. I'll probably stick with Office 2003 until my
computer breaks down completely. You can't buy a computer with old apps &
I'm not sure I can even find the discs & keys for the upgrades, as I started
with Word Perfect 5 for DOS & "upgraded" to Word 6.
